Our politicians are puppets/pawns/proxies for a higher power, ‘Global Corporatism’ which owns the government and the media. I sincerely feel that is where the real threat lies.

My friend Navneet Gupta wrote that, and posted this green picture on my wall. (smile)

Decision based on the long-term health of people and the planet need to replace the short-term interests of profits, politics, and power. The consequences of such decisions will likely fall on future generations (i.e. socially, economically, and ecologically) 1000’s of solutions exist, many of them rather simple, if not for this current paradigm:

Problems are more profitable than Solutions (in the short term). Applies to Central Banks, the Military Industrial Complex, Petrochemical Industry, the Pharmaceutical Industry, Construction, Resource Extraction in General, Waste Management, Prison Industrial Complex, Most Areas of Manufacturing etc. However, the Social, Ecological, and Economic impacts will likely fall on Future Generations.

Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power.” — Benito Mussolini. Fascism is state owned corporatism. Global corporatism is corporate owned statism.

"Institutions will try to preserve the problem to which they are the solution." ~ Clay Shirky.

"Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of a cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.

"Anyone who thinks exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist." Kenneth Boulding

"We must bear in mind that Imperialism (Global Corporatism) is a world system, the last stage of capitalism and it must be defeated. We must eliminate the foundations of imperialism: our oppressed nations, from where they extract capitals, raw materials, technicians and cheap labor, and to which they export new capitals; instruments of domination; arms and all kinds of articles; thus submerging us in an absolute dependence."—Che Guevara

"Our civilization is locked in a grip of an ideology –Global Corporatism, an ideology the denies the rights and legitimacy of the individuals as the citizens in a democracy. The particular imbalance of the ideology leads to the worship of self-interest and the denial of the public good. The practical effects on the individual are passivity and conformism in the areas that matter, and non-conformism in the areas that don’t." - John Saul

This May Day, Occupy Wall Street is rising up in solidarity with the immigrant rights movement. Years before #OWS, May Day was revitalized in the U.S. as a day of mass mobilization against the unjust, racist U.S. immigration system. On May Day 2006, the May 1st Coalition helped organize the largest protest in NYC history, bringing hundreds of thousands of people to the streets in a march stretching over 26 city blocks. This year, as we gather as a unified front for economic justice in a Day Without the 99%, they are leading the struggle to UNIONIZE, LEGALIZE, and ORGANIZE.

On May Day, International Workers’ Day, the 99% will take to the streets and reclaim our communities. We’ll demand economic justice from the major institutions of government and industry who refuse to step forward and deliver a just society. No Work, No School, No Shopping, No Housework, No Compliance. May Day will be another important step forward in the growth of a resistance movement which has captured international headlines and countless imaginations since the occupation of Liberty Square on September 17th, 2011.

Occupy Earth Day 2012

Occuards.com is proud to host the hi-resolution files for Occupy Earth Day 2012, a call to action to defend the planet. They are calling for a National Day of Action to protest the corporations who fund the climate-denier think tank, The Heartland Institute. On Monday, April 23rd (the day after Earth Day) Occupy Earth Day 2012 calls on all persons of conscience to organize events, including civil disobedience events, in their local cities. From theirFacebook page: “This Earth Day let’s take the issue of climate change directly to the deniers themselves! The Heartland Institute and their corporate sponsors are shutting down the planet. Let’s shut them down for one day.”

They have created a beautiful flyer for their call to action. There are two sizes, letter (8.5″ x 11″) and tabloid (11″ x 16″) and two versions. The first version is their call to action. The second version is for local organizers. It leaves some blank space in order to customize the flyer for a local event (time, location, etc)….. (click to see more)

Battle for the Soul of Occupy

Alright you jammers, occupiers and Springtime dreamers….

First they silenced our uprising with a media blackout… then they smashed our encampments with midnight paramilitary raids… and now they’re threatening to neutralize our insurgency with an insidious campaign of donor money and co-optation. This counter-strategy worked to kill off the Tea Party’s outrage and turn it into a puppet of the Republican Party. Will the same happen with Occupy Wall Street? Will our insurgency turn into the Democrats’ Tea Party pet?

It’s up to you to decide if our movement goes the way of Paris ’68, the dust bin of could-have-been-insurrections, or something more daring, more inspiring, something not yet dreamed.

Will you allow Occupy to become a project of the old left, the same cabal of old world thinkers who have blunted the possibility of revolution for decades? Will you allow MoveOn, The Nation and Ben & Jerry to put the brakes on our Spring Offensive and turn our struggle into a 99% Spring reelection campaign for President Obama?

We are now in a battle for the soul of Occupy… a fight to the finish between the impotent old left and the new vibrant, horizontal left who launched Occupy Wall Street from the bottom-up and who dreams of real democracy and another world.

Whatever you do, don’t allow our revolutionary struggle to fizzle out into another lefty whine and clicktivist campaign like has happened so many times in the past. Let’s Occupy the clicktivists and crash the MoveOn party. Let’s #DEFENDOCCUPY and stop the derailment of our movement that looms ahead.
